Sports Tracker is a killer little app and although it’s still a ‘project’ is worthy of a spot on any device with a vaguely active owner. Although we’ve already reviewed it, I hadn’t actually played with much myself. Until now.

I went for a bike ride last night and thought I’d give Sports Tracker a bit of a run. My route goes from my house to the woods in about two minutes and then laps of about 10 minutes each around the wood (I manage about four).
Having done this for a few weeks now, and blown the cobwebs from my lungs, legs and arms, I’m starting to get a bit more competitive. How long is my lap, exactly? How fast did I go? Sports Tracker has a cycling function, why not use that.
It was then I realised the first of two problems. 1. Sports Tracker requires GPS (I can’t ride and hold my phone out at the same time) making it pretty much pointless on my N95. 2. GPS requires line of site (no good in a tree-covered wood).
Solving the first problem is easily done with a Bluetooth GPS reciever strapped to my bars. The second one though, requires me to get a road bike and brave the south London traffic. No thanks. I’ll just have to live in ignorance instead.
