Very famous and not very famous adventurous bikers Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman have just landed in South Africa having ridden their very big bikes all the way from John O’Groats. Three months and 24,000 grueling kilometers were made easier with the addition of one of Nokia’s finest devices, the 6110 navigator.

Coinciding with the launch of the phone in South Africa, the boys were beaming as their journey ended and they were reunited with their families. There’s no doubting the chaps have had one hell of a tough ride. The African terrain has to be some of the toughest on earth, and they’ve done brilliantly to make it to the end in time for the launch. The boys had this to say about their amazing experience:

“The Long Way Down has been an amazing journey and it has been a real privilege to be able to experience these diverse and beautiful places.  We’ve had the opportunity to see such different ways of life to ours and have travelled to remote places very few people have access to.  The sense of freedom and exploration has been incredible,” says McGregor.

“We were both up for an adventure and Africa has certainly given us that,” says Charley.  “There have been times when it has been unbelievably hard going but that has been countered by amazing riding and extraordinary people.  Africa is a continent full of undiscovered wonder and we both feel incredibly lucky we’ve been able to experience this together and to have survived with some brilliant stories to tell.”

Well done from NokNok lads. Hell of an achievement, specially coming on the back of Long Way Round. We can’t wait for the DVD, book, t-shirts and various other bits of memorabilia to make their way forward.
