Nokia Maps is great but it has its limitations. What then of the impostors? Can CoPilot really turn your 95 into a grown up sat nav? Seems so…
Judgement time…
While the N95’s built-in GPS works pretty well, it’s fair to say that Nokia hasn’t succeeded in harnessing its full potential: frankly, it’s not much cop as an in-car satnav system. Luckily, that’s where CoPilot steps in.
This new N95-specific version of CoPilot 6 serves up a tasty satnav feast of full UK maps, clear spoken instructions, thousands of points of interest and live traffic updates. Getting a location lock the first time you use it is a bit of a drag (it takes about ten minutes) but once that’s out of the way your Nok will be guiding you to Auntie Bessie’s garden party like a pro.
This is the first satnav app for the N95 that uses the phone’s GPS rather than forcing you to use a separate Bluetooth receiver, and this makes it a breeze to set up. You slot in a microSD card and it installs in minutes. Simple as.
Frankly, it blows Nokia Maps out of the water when it comes to the art of getting your motor from one place to another. And it comes with an in-car adapter and dashboard cradle, which is a brilliant bonus.
