So you’ve got a phone packed with storage, now what are you going to put on it? Music and snaps are fine, but how about getting some killer video on there too? Step forward, Media Studio 4. Perfect for dropping your, ahem, home movies, onto your blower, without any of the encoding mumbo jumbo!
Judgement time…
DVD converters are ten a penny, but for the most part, that’s exactly what they’re worth too. Media Studio 4 for Nokia is different. This app genuinely works.
As long as your PC can already play DVDs it’ll suck the content from a disc and convert it to a mobile-friendly format.
The scaling is perfect, and clips are rendered at as high a quality possible for mobiles, without sacrificing precious storage space.
Unfortunately, Mobile Studio can’t rip copy protected discs, so you’ll need a separate ripping program to convert these for your phone. However, once they’re ripped to your hard disk, Mobile Studio copes easily with the files, and even lets you tweak settings like widescreen. There’s the option for better quality sound or video too, although it’s debatable how much use that actually is.
For the most part though, Mobile Studio achieves what most other phone converters promise, but fail to deliver – a simple solution to ripping discs and quickly converting them.
Sure, you could do all this for free if you learnt the intricacies of video encoding, but it’s a complicated affair for beginners. Our advice? Plump for Media Studio and save yourself hours of headache.
