What would you do if you had about $8billion in the bank? Well, shopping would have to be high on the list. Fettling with corporate cash though doesn’t mean a steady stream of Aston Martins and downpayments on an Audi RS6. No, it means buying up big chunks of the Internet. Nok’s latest purchase is Enpocket, a mobile advertising outfit based in the states.

Forget about the business stuff for a minute, lets think about what this means to us. Well, it certainly looks like advertising on your phone is coming, in a big way. It also means though we’re more likely to see compelling services drop into our palms for free, in much the same way Google drops great apps on the Internet funded by advertising. And what of the networks? When you’re Nokia you can probably afford to not really care. Nice one.
On the subject of advertising. TheNokiaBlog has news of the new N95 8GB advert. It shows off the new N95’s many outstanding abilities (we’re almost as excited as we were first time around) though the ad lacks in the way of a soundtrack. We reckon old synth beats are a thing of the past and we’d much prefer to see some storming track a la Apple. What do you think about whenever you hear Flathead from the Fratellis? With all Nokia’s might and huge leaps forward recently, we’d have expected something a bit more kick ass for what will surely be one of the finest phones ever made.
