Software: iGolfscorer GPS

In a nutshell…

More golf stats than you can shake a 9-iron at, and with support for GPS too, iGolfScorer GPS also packs its very own lexicon. Which, to a novice, will be like reading a very foreign language.

There’s space to tap in literally every aspect of your game, as well as keeping track of side-games and bets as you go along.

It’s incredibly stable and refuses to crash, even with several apps running at the same time, which is good news for those planning lengthy golf games.

Unfortunately, the developers’ claim that iGolfScorer was ‘made for golfers, by golfers’ is its downfall. The app is ridiculously complex, and not helped by endless abbreviations. Setting up a game is more difficult than explaining the concept of golfing trousers, and the result will be frustrating for beginners.

The GPS element of iGolfScorer also failed to impress. Apparently, it’s set to look for a ‘GPS Mouse’, and refused to pick up the N95’s internal satnav system. There’s a version of the app without GPS, so we’d recommend using that, unless you really want to track the distance whacked with each individual club.

Overall, it’s an app for golfing fanatics. If you’re at home with abbreviations and want to document every nuance of your game, it’s worth every penny. For the casual clubsman however, it’s complete overkill.
