If you’re finding yourself with some spare time you really don’t want to utilise sensibly, why not try out a roleplaying-come-adventure-a-thon, guaranteed to sap hours of your commuting life. Take the jump to find out why you shouldn’t bother…
Judgement time…
It’s easy to see why online adventure games are so popular. World of Warcraft has legions of online disciples, dedicating precious hours to its cause. They offer escapism, challenge and an approximate sense of community. Tibia ME has the same ambitions, but realises them in much less grandiose style.
Not only is it graphically dull, but its makers couldn’t be bothered to make it fit the full screen. Still, at least there’s some interaction. Well, an attempt at it at least.
Tibia’s dialogue is, frankly, atrocious. Interacting with its characters is like having an extremely long conversation with an extremely challenged child. But press on and you’re rewarded with… an extremely long walk to the next boring character.
Fast-paced action, this is not. Over 30 minutes of play left us with a headache and serious contemplations about life, the universe, and suicide.
Still. If you’re a fan of slow progress, annoying conversation and other things synonymous with a spell in a mental asylum, you’ll love Tibia. It’s the only multiplayer roleplay game available on your mobile, although maybe that should tell you something.
Yes, it’s twee, and yes it’s one of a kind. But mobile games are supposed to be fun. We’d rather make conversation with strangers at the bus stop than let this occupy our brains in the meantime. Avoid it like a leper with a cold.
