If your conscience has been getting the better of you lately, then you’re probably a prime candidate for the new Nokia 3110 evolve. Boasting some über eco credentials, Nokia’s candidate for the green vote actually looks quite nice too.
Running on series 40, the 3110 evolve is pretty light on the specs front. Snaps are captured with a 1.3-megapixel shooter whilst inside there’s not much to get you excited (FM radio, MP3 player, GPRS, EGPRS and the like).
It’s on the outside that this handset impresses the most. It’s powered up by a brand new charger which is 94 per cent more efficient than previous models (and will be rolling out across the range over the next year) and the covers are made from bio-sourced materials. The plastic is made from plants, rather than from petrol. Won’t bring down the price of the gallon, but should mean the phone is easier to recycle when you chop it in for a new one. The phone is also one of the first new Noks to come in a smaller box. By creating the new packaging, Nokia will use 5,000 fewer trucks to ship its phones about. That’s a helluva impact on the environment from one single move. Not to mention a cost saving!
The 3110 is reasonably small despite it all even if at 15.6mm it’s a touch chubby. At 87 grammes however it won’t weigh your pocket down and still boasts 3.5-hours talk time and 16 days between charges (if you don’t answer a single call). Not bad.
