Despite getting its fingers near on ripped off first time, it looks like the Nok is thinking about going back in for a second bite at the handheld games console. None of your N-gage platform on the N81 here, this is about a dedicated PSP-killer that’ll also make calls and take snaps.

But what is this we see in the patent office applications in tray? A new pocket gaming device which has the masterful ability to extend out of itself. See the design enables the user to slide the ends of the phone out offering additional grips when playing, but making it a very usable phone when not being used for gaming (ever tried to make a call on the original N-Gage?)

Nobody knows if this design will ever see the light of day (chances are it actually won’t) as we know Nokia has become a lot hotter on making sure its designs are all patented, just in case. Still it does show the Nok is still thinking about the ultimate gaming phone. Which is nice.
