Nokia’s Internet Radio offers better quality than FM, more stations than DAB and more variety than even the Queen could sit through. But with so much choice, how do you make the most of it? By using Nokia’s handy bookmarks feature of course!

There’s no way you’ll want to wade through hundreds of stations each time you fancy some music, so make a note of these ones, and save your aural exploring for later.

1) XFM

(Genres > Indie/Alternative) XFM is an alternative music station that also broadcasts on FM and DAB in the UK. Its best feature is the listener-requested playlist from 10am to 4pm every weekday. Text in a request straight from your handset and it’ll be played. It’s almost like having a pub jukebox in your pocket!

2) KPHX Air America

(Genres > News) This news station presents world affairs with a exclusively American tone. For some listeners that’ll be a novelty, for others it’ll be an eye-opener. Tune in and see the world from a different point of view, after all, that’s what internet radio is all about!

3) Flashback Radio

(Genres > Easy Listening) Some people loved the 80s, others like to pretend they never happened. Fortunately, the internet’s here to remind us all that they did, and show us exactly how they sounded. Check out Flashback Radio for a taste of programming you just can’t find on a conventional dial. Whether that’s a good thing or not, we can’t decide.

4) Antioch

(Genres > Culture) Old-time radio’s easily overlooked, but tune in to Antioch for a taste of the wireless’s golden era and indulge in some of the best storytelling and radio showmanship around. Each day’s schedule even includes programmes from the same day 50 years previous, oh, and even includes old commercials too! How’s that for a blast from the past!

5) George

(Genres > Dance) Few stations can boast a roster of 65 DJs, but George can! Its playlist’s pretty varied, but always upbeat and easy to listen to. Plus, you can’t beat telling your friends you’re listening to George on the way home, they’ll think you’ve lost the plot, when in reality you’ve simply found a great station from New Zealand!
