Nokia has just announced that the N95 8GB is the first ever mobile phone to receive Digital Living Network Alliance certification. What does that mean when it’s at home? It means it can wirelessly share all sorts of media on your home network!

Basically, any device with DLNA approval can be used as a media server, distributing photos, videos and music to other devices. Got a PlayStation 3 or Windows Media Center PC in your living room? Well, the N95 8GB can wirelessly link up to it and use it to stream content to your hi-def telly and sound system. It’s nothing short of genius – and the device’s massive 8GB of memory means you can carry a veritable treasure trove of sharable media goodies wherever you go.

We can also see a possible link to the speculation about Nokia launching a downloadable movie store. See, if they do, you’ll be able to buy a film using your mobile, download it onto the memory then take it round your mate’s house and watch it on his TV. Come on Nokia – now all you have to do is make it a reality.
