Turn your phone into a sound-recording spy device ready to snitch on anyone letting secrets slip nearby.
What’s it good for?
Snooping, snitching and sneaking. Oh, and sound recording.
Judgement time…
SkyeSpy turns you into James Bond, without the suaveness, sophistication or fancy car. Install it on your mobile and it’ll sit listening for sounds, then react in pretty much any way you like.
It can record a clip of the sound it’s heard, send you a text, bash out a multi-media message containing the clip, or even phone you up on a landline.
As well as turning your phone into a super spy gadget, SkyeSpy’s makers say the system’s perfect as a baby monitor too.
We’re doubtful about that, and wouldn’t trust our kids in the hands of a battery-powered mobile app. Still, the premise is there, and SkyeSpy did manage to hear all sorts of sounds in our test. Slamming the front door made it prick up its ears, as did a call to our living room land-line.
It’s a shame that monitoring is limited to audio. We’d love to see SkyeSpy take on the challenge of sending video clips too, but for the moment this is a bit of a novelty. We’re doubtful you’d be able to use it to dig up any real dirt. Are we wrong? Give it a go and let us know in the comments section below.
