Turn your N95 into the ultimate spy gadget

What’s the point?

Fancy checking up on your other half? Suspect your housemate’s nicking your biscuits? Turn your phone into a super-sleuthing super-spy and gather the evidence electronically.

Is it free?

Some apps are free, others will make you pay for your snooping.

Sold! How do I do it?

Step 1:

Want to capture audio to nab your suspect? Install SkyeSpy and it’ll sit listening for any sounds, before recording them and alerting you to any activity remotely. The software can send you a text message, send the sound file direct in an MMS or even phone you up on a landline, all in complete silence so your suspect won’t know you’re listening in. Check out our review of SkyeSpy.

Step 2:

Maybe you need hard photographic evidence to back up your suspicions. Download an app called cCam for free here. It’ll let you take pictures without setting off your cameraphone’s flash or shutter sound. Perfect for snapping surreptitiously, although on some cameraphones it might still set off the red-eye redution light. Try it out first to avoid an early detection!

Step 3:

So photos aren’t quite enough and audio doesn’t pack the punch you’re after. How about remote video surveillance using your mobile? Download Mobiola from Warelex.com and you’ll be able to use your phone as a webcam, sending video via bluetooth to a PC.

Check out our step-by-step tutorial to get you up and running, but don’t blame us if you see something through your webcam that you’d rather forget!

Hi. Thanks for your post. I’ve tried all of them, and Mobiola is by far the best for spying someone. It depends a lot on the battery-life of your phone.

I’ve tried Mobiola once, and it looks great. But it’s a battery drainer…
