A multi-talented instant messenger with support for voice too.
What’s it good for?
Chatting with your mates through text, picture or sound.
Judgement time…
There are lots of instant messaging apps for mobile. The best, however, work across multiple platforms. We’re big fans of Fring, and think EQO’s a bit nifty too, but neither of them offer any extras. That’s the main selling point of Palringo, which lets you swap voice messages with mates as well as text.
It’s a neat addition, and one that’s sure to cause amusement once it falls into the hands of teenagers. Fart noises and funny voices might finally have found their way into the instant messaging age.
What makes Palringo’s added extra even better, however, is the way it’s packaged. You’re offered the ability to include any type of message you like in the same conversation, so a voice sample could follow on from a photo message or some text. The application also keeps all your missives in order, so you can scan through a chat to see (or hear) what’s been said.
It’s all incredibly stable too. We struggled to make Palringo slow down or crash, even when running several apps at once on our N95.
On the cross-platform front, Palringo’s one of the best IM apps we’ve ever seen. There’s support for MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, GoogleTalk, Jabber, and Gadu-Gadu. If your mates use any other type of IM system, frankly it’s their own fault, not Palringo’s.
In a word then, this app is fantastic. It’s exactly what chat fans have been waiting for. Install it. Now.
