Finger-twiddling action to the sounds of your favourite rock anthems.
What’s it good for?
Taking your addiction to coordination-based console games on the road!
Judgement time…
Guitar Rock Tour, as you’d expect from the screenshots above, is a mobile attempt at re-creating the Playstation and Xbox’s Guitar Hero. It’s a valiant attempt, and more than capable of taking up your free time, at least until the next bus arrives.
Thumping the keypad in time with tunes, it’s a test of dexterity for your digits, and patience for the mind.
See, where the console versions score highly is their soundtrack. It’s genuinely fun to play along with your musical heroes, but less so on a mobile, where the music in question is a MIDI re-hash rather than MP3 masterpiece.
Sure, Guitar Rock Tour kept our thumbs busy for a while, and it’s well made, with tuned matching the on-screen prompts almost perfectly.
However, it has to be said, without the thrill of proper musical scores, a plastic guitar in hand and friends crowding round to laugh at your rock star stance, this is one purely for the guitar-sim completists (and if you’re one of those, check out our video review of Guitar Legend).
