Google search gurgles onto your Nok

Remember we said that a Google search app for S60 phones was coming soon? Well, it’s only available right bloomin’ now!

If you want to make info-seeking and web-searching a lot more streamlined on your Nokia, you can now head over to the big G’s mobile site (http://mobile.google.com on your phone browser) and download the app, which’ll plant a search box right on most S60 handsets’ desktop. This isn’t actually the Google-integrated-into-Nokia-Search app we mentioned last week, but until that does turn up it’s the next best thing.

Once downloaded and installed, you simply tap the “Edit” (that’s the one with the pencil icon) or “Ctrl” key to bring up the box. And don’t fret too much if your mobile doesn’t have either of those buttons: you can launch the app from the usual menu screen too. It’s a very speedy search app to use compared to the Nokia browser’s, and anyone familiar with using Google (about 90% of the population, in other words) will find it a much more streamlined experience.
