So a few weeks back Mobile Choice ran a story about the arrival of the N96 in June citing Carphone Warehouse’s upcoming handsets section as the source. The story has since been spotted by a bunch of other phone sites, but the details appear to have changed, with Carphone Warehouse now showing off a rather less exciting August arrival for the arrival of the N96.
So when will we see the N96? Symbain-Guru and PhoneMag.com both reckon on August whilst Mobile Choice is sticking with June. With activity around Widgets ramping up and April being the N95’s first anniversary, it’d be a crying shame to have to wait until August to pull off a big upgrade. Sure, we have the N95 8GB to keep us ticking over, but everyone we know wants to get their hands on the N96.
Plus, word on the street has it that Apple will be rolling out a 3G iphone in June, so it’d make sense for the N96 to make an appearance before then. We don’t have any concrete proof, but Mobile Choice must have originally said June for a reason (it being that’s what Carphone wrote) and Carphone must have added the new date and disclaimer at the behest of someone… Perhaps.
Only time will tell.
