We love our N810 to bits. Email, sofa-surfer, VoIP, GPS and of course Sketch. But what if you could run a whole new OS on there? What if that OS was Google Android? Well, now it seems you can. Okay, you might need a bit of fancy Linux programming skills to get it working, but work it does. And well too, it seems.
We’ve been waiting for some bright spark to install Google’s Android operating system on a Nokia handset. Now eLinux.org has gone and done it and opened a world of possibilities for N810 owners. Hours of blissful Quake action cannot be far away. There isn’t much functionality available at present (there are about five features you can enjoy) but now it’s been cracked, it can’t be long before we see full on Android action kicking in.
You could attempt the hack yourself by following instructions at eLinux.org if you know a little ARM Linux, but we’d recommend waiting for a fool-proof version that’s sure to follow and checking our Symbian versus Android comparison feature in the meantime.
