The summer months are always an exciting time as that’s when Nokia traditionally flexes its technological muscle and tosses a new world-leading handset into the mix. And this season the air is full of the scent of the iPhone-eclipsing 5800 Tube.
Launching in the summer would be the ideal time for Nokia to assert its authority and steal Apple’s thunder with a pre-emptive strike on the upcoming 3G iPhone. Plus, as June 29 is iPhone’s birthday, if the Tube were to launch a day or two before that milestone it would seriously put Apple’s nose out of joint.
The other signs look good, as Nokia often gives six months notice from announcing a new handset to it hitting shelves. So as we’ve know about this one since August 2007 when NokNok ran it first.
