Video squishing company Espre has ported its highly efficient Lightening Strike (LSVX) codec to the multimedia friendly N95.

The LSVX codec can pack high quality streaming video, running at a full 30fps, into less than 300kbps of bandwidth, making mobile video conferencing a possibility. The player doesn’t need any additional hardware to do the heavy lifting for it and it runs entirely in software.

By crunching the video down it’s possible to access live streams with just a 3G connection, but the quality means it won’t look like a horrid pixelated mess when viewed on the N95‘s high spec screen.

If web publishers start using LSVX to churn out online video, then you won’t need to wander round looking for a WiFi hotspot when you want a high quality fix of your latest online broadcasts.
