Nokia is bringing Maps into the web based Ovi bosom so you can now plan trips on your PC then sync them with your phone.
Maps on your mobile is great for getting you out of a tight spot when you have no idea where you are, but the new Maps on Ovi will let you do a bit of desk based research on where you want to go first and then zap all that info straight down to your handset.
If you prefer a more laid back approach, you can just wander round and mark interesting things you spot along the way. You can then upload your route to the service and in the future you’ll also be able to share routes with friends and offer them travel tips or highlight cool things for them to see if they’re in the area.
Maps on Ovi will be available in September and although it’s initially only going to work with Noks, apparently there are plans to make it hardware independent so other less enlightened folk can play too.
