Nokia could be looking at using the snazzy Kastor user interface to update S60 and make it look all shiny and new.
The rumour is currently doing the rounds on the Symbian Freak forums. There’s no confirmation, of course, that Nokia is leaning in this direction but it would certainly bring the UI up to date with current eye candy standards.
The interface, from Swedish developers Tat, features 3D transitions and smart overlay effects that give the phone an overall much smoother feel. If you want to see what Kastor is capable of, then you can find a video of what to expect over on Tat’s site.
Even if it’s just a case of using the 3D effects that Kastor offers to animate the existing S60 look and feel it’ll certainly make it feel more up to date and able to compete with other swish phones out there.
