Mobile TV launches in Switzerland

The Swiss can now carry their own personal gogglebox around with them everywhere they go in the form of a Nokia N77.

The Bluewin TV service from Swisscom uses the DVB-H system, which provides digital broadcasts suitable for picking up on handheld devices so no matter where you are you keep up with the goings on in Albert Square.

Customers can pick from 20 channels and there’s a built in EPG so they can easily see when the Swiss equivalent of Bargain Hunt is coming up. To tune in, you’ll need a DVB-H compatible phone - Swisscom is currently kitting customers out with N77s and the forthcoming N96 should be able to play too.

Only 44 percent of the Swiss population can currently receive the service, but those outside coverage or without the right handset can also tune in over 3G.
