Nokia pushes push email service

Nokia is dipping its toe in the world of push email with its new message service. Now you can have email turn up on your phone automatically without having to manually send and receive to see what’s new in your inbox - all you need is a POP3 or IMAP email account and a few minutes of time to get it set up.

There’s no support for corporate email accounts just yet or MSN Hotmail and you’ll need a compatible handset to trial the service. Currently that means one of the following: E51, E61, E61i, E65, E66, E71, E90, N73, N80, N81 8GB or N95.

Once you’re signed up, Nokia will send over a download link to your phone so you can install the client. Then you just need to tap in your account details and you’re ready to go. The client also integrates with your address book, so there’s no need to flip between the two apps when you want to send someone a message.

You can also specify a schedule when it’s on and even disable it when you’re roaming so you won’t get a whacking great data bill when you get home.

To give it a try, head on over to the Nokia Email site now and sign up.
