Lock up your handset - there’s a virus on the loose! Or just carry on as normal if you prefer. Despite reports that there’s a cunning piece of malware called Isexplayer doing the rounds, chances are you’re safe from its evil clutches and you can go about your business as usual.
The gist is as follows - if you download and install an app called Isexplayer, which purports to offer access to an array of, er, adult services, then before you know it it’ll be racking up premium rate international phone charges and you’ll be left with a whacking great phone bill and a nagging sense of embarrassment tinged shame.
However, as Vaibhav Sharma over at The Symbian Blog points out, to actually fall victim to this scam you’ve first got to actually install the application. Don’t click the OK button and you’re safe from its nefarious charms.
Secondly, it’s unsigned so it won’t be able to plonk itself on your bog standard S60 device anyway. Only those that have enabled unsigned apps are at risk, and we’d like to think that if you’ve got that far you’re probably clever enough not to get duped quite so easily. Right?
Whatever you do, though, please don’t have nightmares.
