Nokia has taken the wraps off its new widget download site so you can now get quick access to news, weather, sports and more straight from your handset. All you need is an S60 phone and a bit of time to thumb through the widgets available - when you see one you like just hit the download button.

The widgets are created using Web Runtime Technology (WRT) - the same clever bits and bobs that Nokia uses for Widsets. Using WRT makes it easy for third parties to make mobile applications - it’s also simple to port existing desktop widgets to WRT without too much hassle.

To see what’s available, point your Nok at widgets.nokia.mobi and have a browse through the toys on offer. You’ll find loads up for grabs, from games for little fun to news services if you’re an information junkie.
