Yell makes some noise about its mobile maps app

Not got enough mapping applications on your Nok? Yell is the latest company to enter the navigation space so if Nokia Maps loses its way and Google Maps is being a bit grumpy you’ve now got a third option to help steer you in the right direction - all for the low, low price of free.

Like the Nokia and Google offerings, you download the Yell application onto your handset and it then pulls down the map data it needs over the network. It’s free to use, although if you’re not on an all-you-can-eat data plan you could get stung with a hefty bill.

As you would expect, Yell Maps will help you get from A to B, but it also includes a number of functions tied to its business listings - like the ability to save business names, addresses and phone numbers directly to your phone’s contact list and also to share this information with others via text messaging.

It supports a large number of Nokia handsets - you can check if yours qualifies here. To install the app, head on over to www.yellmobile.com or text the word ‘mobile’ to 80248.
