Got a 3G Nok? Now you can beam what’s right in front of its camera to world plus dog anytime of the day using Qik. The site was in private beta but it’s now thrown open its doors to all comers, so all you need is a compatible phone, an untapped data account and something interesting to shoot.
Qik is a bit like YouTube, except rather than having to wait until you get home before you can upload your video you can stream it live to the web using your mobile data connection. Once the video hits Qik’s site it will also be archived so people can watch it back at a later date too.
Qik also integrates with other social networks like Twitter and Facebook, so you can let your friends know when you’re streaming live. Qik supports nearly 40 Nokia handsets so far and new ones are constantly being added. All you need to do is sign up for an account and then download a small app onto your handset and it will handle the rest. Probably best to make sure you’re on an unlimited data plan, though, otherwise all those uploads could end up costing quite a bit.
If you want to get streaming straight away, click on over to Qik to get started.
