It started as a fairly innocuous teaser site, before apparently being sent a takedown notice and then popping up again on people’s handsets - now someone claims to have gotten to the bottom of the Open at Own Risk campaign. They’ve even seen the video and luckily it didn’t send them loopy bonkers.
Originally launched at the beginning of July, the Open at Own Risk site featured a countdown clock and promised to reveal the weirdest video clip in the world - a clip so strange it reportedly sent people insane. The site was then replaced by a supposed takedown notice, due to its “intent to publish content driving people insane”.
Scott Janousek claims to have solved the puzzle and watched the video. Luckily his sanity was left intact and he’s documented the whole procedure on his blog. Janousek thinks it was a cunning ruse by Nokia to get people accustomed with its download service, since elements of the game had to be retrieved using the Nokia Download app on compatible handsets.
Once you get to the end, you can watch the clip in full - and if you’re one of the first 500 you’ll also get a free T-Shirt. The clip itself looks a bit like a collection of outtakes from Twin Peaks, complete with short people and weird outfits, although it’s distinctly lacking in people talking backwards.
