Remember Jeppe, the concept video communication device Nokia has put together deep within its research labs? Well, it’s all very well reading about what he can do but if you really want to see what he’s capable of you can take a peek as he talks, scuttles about and generally busies himself with the task of making communicating easier.
The video starts showing one potential use for Jeppe - allowing you to talk to someone else when you’ve got your hands full doing other things. The acting won’t win any Oscars, but it does demonstrate Jeppe in action.
You can also see how the user on the other end of the line can interact with him, steering him remotely while seeing a live video feed of what’s in front of his camera. Look really closely and you can even see him blink - part of the ability to communicate using gestures. Obviously he still needs a bit of work, but the results so far are promising.
