Nok’s slick new slider: the 8800 Carbon Arte

Amid all the anticipation of new handsets next week, Nokia has quietly slipped out a new flavour of its 8800 Arte handset - this time decked out in carbon fibre, titanium, polished glass and stainless steel. It’s certainly a looker, and given that it’s made of material more commonly used in race cars it should be pretty hard wearing too.

Not content with giving it just a good looking, hard wearing outer shell, its insides have also been given a bit of a spit and polish too, with specially made wallpapers and audio included to ensure everything matches. The background image even changes depending on what time of day it is.

Add in the turn-to-mute function, so you can silence incoming calls just by lying it on its belly, plus 3G connectivity, 4GB of memory and a 3.2 megapixel snapper and you’ve got a stylish and feature packed handset. It’s not cheap, mind, as it’ll set you back a hefty £870 SIM free - and that’s without VAT.
