Nokia has snuck out an upgraded version of its route finding and GPS app, without so much as lone party popper, let alone a big fanfare. There’s no official word on what you can expect to find in the new version, although it looks to be faster at working out which way to go so you’re not halfway there by the time it’s made its mind up.

The upgrade was spotted by Mark Guim over at The Nokia Blog by accident when he had to re-install Maps on his Nokia N95 8GB. He spotted that it was now sporting build version 3204, compared to its previous revision number of 2602.

There are no doubt many bug fixes under the hood, but the main upgrade seems to be a vast reduction in the time it takes to calculate routes. If you haven’t downloaded in a while, point your browser at maps.nokia.com and grab yourself the latest version.
