Nokia's hook-up with Nuance Communications looks set to bring loads of lovely voice-enabled functionality to Nokia handsets in the near future, but if you want a taster right now you're in luck: the latest update of Yahoo's oneSearch search engine lets you scour the web using only your voice!
Yep, that's right - thanks to Yahoo's partnership with speech recognition firm Vlingo, you can now search for anything by simply speaking. There's no need to initially narrow down your search or be particularly careful about the terms you use - the software is smart enough to return relevant results for almost any query that emanates from your gob. Yahoo says the system adapts itself to your voice the more you use it, so it should improve its "hit rate" and accuracy as time goes on.
If you prefer to keep things a little more old school, there's still the ability to search via keying in a term, name or phrase - and in fact you can switch between the two whenever you like.
You can download oneSearch at Yahoo's website, or on your mobile by pointing your browser at "http://m.yahoo.com".
