While it's easy to get excited about what's coming next after the recent glut of megaphones like the N96 and 5800 XpressMusic, for some people mobile phones are still a luxury and simple communication not a given.

For these emerging markets Nokia has created seven new handsets that it anticipates will be available for between €25-90 - that's less than most people pay a month on contract here.

That's not to say that these handsets are feature challenged - in fact, Nok is pushing forward to make not just voice but also internet easily accessible to everyone.

The handsets come equipped with Mail on Ovi, which is designed to provide an email account that works solely on the phone, with the need for a PC as well. They'll also be loaded with Nokia Life Tools which uses a graphics heavy interface that's easily understandable to provide information.

Cheapest of the bunch is the Nokia 1202 which is specifically designed for rural locations and features not just long battery life and loud ringtones but also a flash light as well. At the other end of the scale you've got the top of the range 5130 XpressMusic which features an MP3 player and FM radio, plus 2 megapixel camera, available for a still reasonable €90. You can find the full rundown of phones on Nokia's site.
