We missed this one last week, but it's a little news nugget that'll interest radio-heads: Nokia has said that it will eventually squeeze DAB radio tuners into its mobile phones.
While it might not offer the audiophile quality that was initially promised ("better than CD" apparently), DAB trumps standard AM and FM radio by delivering more stations and, in general, better performance. For example, if you listen to Radio 5 Live on DAB it's clear as a bell - tune in on your analogue FM dial and it's got more pops and crackles than a big bowl of Rice Krispies.
Anyway, Nokia told Pocket-Lint that DAB would be wending its way to its handsets at some point in the future. When? Well, there's the problem. According to the report, Nokia isn't going to make the move to digital until DAB becomes universally adopted. DAB has been around for years now but less than a third of adults listen to it each week - until that figure rises significantly we won't see the tuners in the phones. So if you want DAB in your Nok, start listening more at home!
