Bit of a creepy one, this, but fairly interesting all the same. It seems that men and women who want to keep tabs on their partner's phone activities can do so by using a Nokia handset preloaded with Interceptor Software.

Described as "the cutting edge in surveillance and security", these mobiles are being sold for £1,667.50 (yes, really) by snooping gadget specialist Spycatcher. The idea is that you give the phone to the person you want to spy on and use it like an "inside man". It'll send you a text alerting you whenever the phone is switched on and whenever a call is made or received, and it'll show you the numbers of the other party too.

But it gets scarier than that. Interceptor will also send you a copy of any text message sent or received by the phone, and if you dial the phone from a predefined number you can actually use it as a microphone to listen in to what's going on nearby, or listen in to both sides of any call in progress. Like we say, it's more than a little creepy.

The software is available pre-installed on brand new Nokia N77, N81, N82, N92, N93, N95 8GB and E90 models from the store, and the price seems to be the same for all models.
