Nokia 6208c touchscreen phone heading to the Far East

Hot on the heels of the 5800 XpressMusic and N97 comes a third Nokia touchscreen handset. But the 6208c isn't an all-singing, all-dancing music maestro like the former or a do-it-all smartphone like the latter - it runs a variant of Symbian S40 and looks set to be a mid-range model.

The touchscreen is smaller than the 5800 XpressMusic and N97 displays, measuring 2.4 inches across and boasting a 320 x 240 resolution. There's a stylus included, and it pops onto the back of the handset when not in use, the top of it wrapping around the lens of the 3.2-megapixel camera, which comes with a dual LED flash.

Bluetooth 2.0, a 3.5mm headphone socket, MP3 player, FM radio, USB 2.0 and a microSD slot round off the feature list. No 3G? Well, no - this is a GSM-only phone, although it does have EDGE compatibility.

The reason the 6208c comes sans 3G is that it's currently only scheduled for the Chinese market, where high speed data connections aren't standard. It's coming in the first half of 2009, with no pricing details known as yet.

So do you think Nokia has made a mistake in limiting its third touchscreen device to the Far East? Let us know in the comments section below.
