Nokia Messaging problem - fix coming soon!

Those of you using the new Nokia Messaging app may have noticed a problem when switching out of the email client into selecting a Wi-Fi access point. Well, the good news is that Nokia is aware of the issue and that a patch is on its way.

In the meantime, the Nokia Messaging team has detailed a way in which you can work around the problem. Hit the jump for all the details...

Here's the workaround in full:

Access point selection is coming back in an upcoming patch. We made a big mistake on this (it wasn’t an arbitrary decision, we’re exploring better ways to switch between APNs as well). Apologies for any problems this may have caused. Here’s one workaround for the time being:

- during client setup (in the E-Mail setup program which runs after receiving the text message), set the connection as default. this will mean that the email client will take the system default connection.

- to swap to 3G data or other wifi connection: open the browser (or other application that needs to go OTA). if you have set data connection to “always ask”, the S60 will ask you what connection you would like to use…select (for example) 3G.

- close browser and connection.

- email client will now automatically connect to the last data connection.

Have you been affected by the problem? Does Nokia's workaround do the trick? Let us know in the comments section below.

When Nokia will propose true push mail like on blackberry (with SMS style signalling and without need to etablished data connection in order to check if there is new mail) ?

This is not the only problem with Nokia messaging. Messages frequently arrive 4 to 6 hours late (if at all). Unfortunately the regular Nokia client leaves a lot to be desired.

I’m also facing a weird problem.
Every couple of days I will stop receiving messages …
The way to solve it is remove my accounts (usually gmail), add them again, reset data (in settings) and pray.
Any idea why it happens and/or how to workaround it???

by the way, since this is not really push messaging, is there any benefit of using it beyond the E71 regular mail support (besides it being cooler …)

Messaging needs lots of fixes. Its been going down every couple of days. Time before lastm users were required to delete their messaging accounts to get it working again. The really sad thing is that Nokia doesn’t seem to even care.

messaging does hardly work! cannot receive e-mails for couple of days already. I can only send e-mails. using the service with a nokia e71 and company e-mails. I am short to quit the service again as it is of no use.

Im living in sweden and have a E75 and are facing the same problems as the rest of you, a gmail account that stops working after a couple of days…

I use the gmail account to relay my workmail, so the problem is for me of double nature…

And i think that today it dosnet really matter what kind of brand you use, they are all bad/buggy/not working in some way…

I tried this work around steps and still getting the same problem. The nokia messaging is unable to Create a mailbox using a wifi connection.
