WorldMate hits Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

Symbian Freak has been testing travellers' tool app WorldMate on his 5800 XpressMusic, and according to him it's the best app for the touchscreen phone at the moment. WorldMate combines world clocks with flight info and weather forecasts to take the stress out of business travel, and apparently the 5800's touchscreen interface suits it to a tee. Nokia 8800 Arte gets the Midas touch

The 8800 Arte is one of Nokia's most luxurious phones, but the firm has just skyrocketed the handset's stock through the upper levels of the prestige-o-sphere by offering it in a brand new edition featuring 18 carat gold plating and high quality leather. It's been done before unofficially, but this is the real Nokia deal. According to Softpedia, the 8800 Gold Arte even has precision ball bearings to improve its slide action, plus a tap-for-time function that lets the user, yes, bring up a clock on the OLED screen by tapping twice on the leather surface below the screen. The phone also sports 4GB of built-in memory, a 3.2-megapixel camera and 3G, but we don't know a price or release date for the UK yet. It's definitely coming to the Southeast Asia Pacific region though, in the second quarter of 2009.

Nokia unveils Locate Sensor - never lose your keys/wallet/glasses again

ElectricPig brings us word of a new gizmo from Nokia designed to ensure you don't lose track of important personal items like your wallet, briefcase or laptop (MI5 take note). After attaching a tiny receiver tag to the items, you can track their location using your phone and Nokia Locate Sensor. The service uses a direct wireless connection (not GPS) and works to a range of 100m, with your phone screen visually directing you towards anything attached to a receiver. It's still in the concept stage, so it'll be a while before it's ready for market.
