The Nokia E71 has received a firmware update that builds on the changes we saw in last November’s update. From what we’ve seen of the update log this is a substantial update so well worth getting your hands on.
You’ll get better 3G power usage and Wi-Fi has been tweaked so that connections are more stable. Read on for more changes in store for Nokia E71 users.
For the most part, most of these changes are about making the OS far more stable. So, we’ll see a far more reliable browser, as well as a more responsive QWERTY keyboard.
When it comes to connectivity, along with the Wi-Fi connection made more stable, there have been functionality improvements to WLAN when roaming. What’s more, there are now improvements to BT IOP and Dial-up stability. The email client, Mail for Exchange, has been beefed-up and upgraded from version 2.5.5 to 2.7.22.
For those with plenty of music on their Nok, the DRM user keys won’t be lost when updating from the previous version. However, it’s worth pointing out there is no Date Preservation tool in this update, so make sure you backup your Nok before you go getting excited about the update.
Many of the minor changes are to do with localisation, such as improved Time Zone handling and expanding the provider database and improving the setup and usability of the device. Therefore, this is an update for European Nok users and doesn’t affect anyone over the United States, sorry guys.
If you’ve taken advantage of this update we’d love to hear about your experiences, was it easy? Have you seen a performance boost? Let us know in the comments below.
