Comes with heart monitor and new Sports Tracker services Got an urge to give your Nok a good workout? Move over to the new Nokia N79 Active and you can do just that, as the smallest Nseries device gets a special release specifically targeting the get-fit crew.

The good people over at Nokia Conversations have pulled off their jogging pants and gloves and got their hands on a brand new device, which includes a heart rate belt and a new version of Nokia Sports Tracker.

It’s a simple concept, take an established device and rebrand it for a niche, or in this case not so niche, demographic. The Nokia N79 Active takes the small and perfectly formed S60 handset and bundles it with the Polar Bluetooth WearLink heart rate belt and a bunch of extra goodness. What’s more, Nokia Sports Tracker has been updated and  will be released simultaneously when the device begins shipping shortly.

The whole deal works by packaging the Nokia N79 with a special armband that holds the phone in place, while the Bluetooth-enabled Polar heart monitor makes sure that you’re ticking along nicely too.

The inclusion of the new version of Sports Tracker means that via A-GPS you can keep track of where you are and how far you’ve run. Sports Tracker also comes with a neat new app that allows you to mark you route using geotagged images, so even if you’re having a bit of trouble matching GPS map to the terrain, you’ll be able to spot the most likely landmarks.

Nokia N79 Active ships in selected markets in the next few weeks and is expected to cost 375 Euros, plus any taxes where applicable.
