With the first big Nokia release of the year still a week away here in the UK, Nokia has issued a Nokia 5800 firmware update for those  devices already in circulation.

The update takes the new smartphone to firmware v11.0.008 from the previous v10.0.010 and from what we can see it offers greater stability to the operating system, as well a number of minor bug fixes.

For the most part, this update fixes a few bugs that have appeared over the last few weeks. You’ll find the browser is steadier and so is the media player. New features are a little thin on the ground but this version does include one neat app, Google Search. This will now help searches using the built-in web browser a lot quicker and more standardised.

Nokia isn’t considering this a major update but if you’ve got a phone on order here in the UK, it’s worth checking the version when you inbox it next week, as you may wish to take advantage of a few of the following updates.

You can get a hold of the update from Nokia but remember to make a backup of your current device before starting any upgrade, just to be on the safe side.
