The Symbian OS is no stranger to Quickoffice but it’s been a while since we saw any changes. The guys at All About Symbian have got an exclusive look at Quickoffice v6.0. They’ve found there isn’t a great deal of change in this latest update but it still delivers a solid set of improvements, including password protected documents, ZIP file support, word count in Quickword and a much improved file manager interface. Details and screenshots here.
Nokia to acquire bit-side GmbH
With the news yesterday that Nokia is to acquire bit-side GmbH, there was a flurry of activity over on the Mobile Review forum - as to whether this is a good move or not, or whether there is actually any profit to be had out of GmbH. The all new singing and dancing, Nokia Beta Labs went live a couple of week ago and Nokia Conversations has taken a little time out from reporting on the world inside Nokia to take a look at it with fresh eyes. They’re impressed with what’s on offer, as well as by the amount of interest fellow Nokheads are showing for the site by getting involved. You can see their findings over here.
The internet is full of sites competing for your eyeballs so it’s great when someone like the Symbian Guru can take a little time out to appreciate a fellow blogger. Naturally enough, the site in question is Best of Symbian, which the Guru says ‘[it] doesn’t cover each and every application out there, but the team does an excellent job at picking the applications they write about’. We wanted to show our solidarity for the team over there, you can see what’s on offer here.
