This is the top story in our daily look around your Nokia community. Other stories hitting the headlines include new widgets for the Nokia 5800, turning your Nokia into a Wi-Fi device, and the continued rise of Twitter here in the UK. Check out all these stories after the jump...
The guys over at The Nokia Blog managed to get a handson with the Nokia N97 device at the recent Nokia Meetup in New York city. This is clearly a pre-production model but it still gives us the best indication yet of what we can expect from the final hardware. The report is honest and upfront, saying that the software on the N97 wasn't finished as it kept crashing but the hardware is pretty much as it will be. It's a great piece and you can get the hard facts here.
Turn your Nokia into a Wi-Fi router
Not something we've thought to much about to be honest, but the Nseries Blog has gotten up close and personal with what sounds like a neat little app called JoikuSpot. This free piece of software transforms your device into a WI-FI router, so you can access on your computer, Mac or Windows, anywhere your phone has coverage. It's another great example of how flexible the Nokia platform is, allowing you to almost anything with it. You can get the wireless lowdown here.
The Nokia 5800 is proving to be a fertile ground for apps of late with three more being announced over the weekend and the S60 Blog giving them the thumbsup. The best has to be from Reuters, whihc gives you up-to-the-minute breaking news and business developments straight to your Nok. The other two apps are AccuWeather Web Run Time Widget and a FoneFood widget, both of which are latest editions of established tools. You can get the full-fat fats and downloads over here.
Over on Nokia Conversations they're looking at the boom in Twitter use in the UK and trying to get to the bottom of why it's suddenly become the blogging tool of choice for the media lovies across the land. There are no hard and fast answers but you can get involved in the debate over here.
