Nokia N97 users will be able to use the Windows Live Messenger client on the device when it ships as the software has been updated and will now support all Symbian Series 60 5th Edition smartphones.
This is the top story affecting the world of Nokia today, with other stories taking the headlines being Green Phone, one of the finalists in the Calling All Innovators competition and a host of flash based games.
Windows Live Messenger Everyone's favourite IM client is coming to the Nokia N97 and Nokia 5800. You can install the app on your Nok and chat with friends and family and to obtain access to Windows Live Hotmail accounts, which is a necessity if you use Hotmail or MSN mail since Nokia email doesn’t currently allow you to connect to such accounts. Being a S60 5th Edition app, it’s been designed to run on the Nokia 5800 as well as the soon to be released Nokia N97. You can download it here.
Nokia 5800 reviewed We’ve been extolling the virtues of the built-in camera on the Nokia 5800 of late but it seems we’re not the only one. I wished it was 5MP at least. Anyway the photos taken were good and thanks to dual flash.’ It’s a case that too many people really on the big number to mean something You can check the rest of the review over here.
Greener Noks a-coming We’re starting to see the finalists from Nokia’s Calling All Innovators competition, where entrants were asked to design applications “improve the quality of life on the planet.” One such app is Green Phone, which maximises battery life by minimising activity to the power hungry bits, such as the Wi-Fi, the screen and antenna. Over at Cleantechnic they’ve a quick run-through of the app and even a video showing how it works in action here.
