Are we about to see not one but TWO new top-secret devices launched at Mobile World Congress? If so, the Nokia N97 may well be about to get a rival or two.
We’ve heard about the Nokia E75 that may well be making an appearance at MWC next week but pictures of two new devices, neither of which have been named, have started to do the rounds.
This is the lead story to hit the Nokia community in the last 24 hours. Other big stories include a potential Nokia Facbook phone, we also look at the snazzy interface of the just-announced Nokia 5630 XpressMusic, and Nokia Cupid comes to the UK. Read on for full details
Are we about to see two new devices given the official unveiling at MWC? Well, the guys over at Into Mobile seem to think so and have even has a quick video to show up some proof. Neither device has an official name and it’s thought they go under the code names of Madeleine and Ivalo.
The Nokia Madeleine is set to be a rival to the Nokia N97, as it appears to have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard the same as the N97. However, instead of being a high-end flagship device, the Nokia Madeleine will be a mid-range device with 3.2-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and GPS and N-Gage.
The high-end Ivalo manages to pack in a 3.5-inch screen and from the report a decent spec list of 32GB ROM, A-GPS, 5-megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth and even a TV-out. How this will sit in the market with the Nokia N97 we'll have to wait and see.
The full facts are still waiting to be seen but suddenly our MWC predications about what Nokia will announce needs to be added to…
Are we about to see a Nokia Facebook phone hit the streets? That’s what everyone is asking, and has the Nokia community buzzing, after a piece ran in the Wall Street Journal, stated that the big Nok was in discussions with social networking site of the moment, Facebook.
While a Nokia Facebook phone would be interesting, the obvious outcome of the discussions would be to see Facebook apps appearing embedded on some Nokia phones. At this stage, no one is sure how many devices this would involve and how deep the partnership would reach.
One solution would be to launch a low-cost rival to the $99-iPhone, stuffed with Facebook features and Nokia’s easy-to-use S40 platform. This would be a cracking little device that hits the 'youth' market. It's just an idea, what do you think?
Nokia 5630 XpressMusic interface shown
After the announcement the other day that the XpressMusic line was to be joined by the 5630, DailyMobile has got its hands on what look like the Home and Welcome screens of the new design. Naturally enough, they’re not a million miles away from what we’ve seen on the You can check out the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic interface for yourself.
OK, so this is Friday 13th and anyone with any sense will be staying away from bad luck but it does mean we have the love-fest that it Valentine’s Day tomorrow. The guys over at Nokia Conversations have been getting all flirtatious by outing Nokia’s Cupid. This is a cute little site allows you to anonymously send texts to the object of you desires. It’s only for us Brits, but as we’re supposed to be the least romantic nation in Europe, we need all the help we can get!
