In these cash strapped and energy efficient times we’re always looking for new ways to save money and help the planet. So, what do you say to an Eco Charger for your Nokia phone?

Well, it appears that Carphone Warehouse has taken a jump on most other companies and is now offering the KIT Eco Charger for less than £23. OK, it's just a charger but it offers to save so much more in the long run.

The KIT Eco Charger can save you money when charging your Nokia by switching itself off after use. According to the details on the site, the charger has a built-in controller that switches itself off, so it only uses the power it needs. The button on the front glows blue to indicate when in operation.

Carphone Warehouse goes on to say ‘If everyone in the UK used a KIT Eco Charger we would save approximately 300,000,000 kwh of electricity per year. At an average cost of 28.5p per kwh, that would be a collective saving as a country of £85m!’ Now, them maths work for us, making this a device we’ll be getting our hands on as soon as possible.

It’s set to go on sale 3rd March but Carphone Warehouse have got it up for order now, check out the Eco Charger now and help save the planet.

Them maths don\’t work for me. 28.5 per kWh sounds like a quantum meter (pre-pay) customer paying off a massive debt. Average UK costs for electricity per kWh should be nearer 9-13p at present.
