Nokia’s Instant Messaging and presence sharing app, Ovi Contacts for S60 devices has been updated to Version 3.2. This version is expected to run a lot smoother and quicker than previous versions.
It’s still part of the beta labs, so shouldn’t be viewed as the final, final edition. In other words, you may find that it crashes at times. However, we've been assured it's far more stable than previous editions so well worth adding to your device.
The app formally known as Contacts on Ovi and even Nokia Chat before that, has been dusted down, remodelled and punted out on Nokia Beta Labs in a fully formed update. This brings Contacts on Ovi up to Version 3.2.
If you're not too sure of the core reason for Contacts on Ovi Beta Labs itself says, ‘Ovi Contacts is a place where you can find your friends, see where they are and what they are up to. It’s all about keeping close to people who matter.’
The improved features include:
Chat: Send instant messages and enrich them with smileys, voice and location messages.
Presence: At a glance you can see if your friends are available, busy or on the phone.
Enhanced presence: You can let your friends know what you are listening and broadcast your important scenes.
It's worth checking with the site to make sure your handset is covered before you download it but with support for most S60 phones, most people will be fine. We’re expecting Nokia to pre-install Contacts on all future phones, as the guys over at All About Symbian pointed out that it was already setup to go on the new handsets shown at MWC last week.
If you’re already running Ovi Contacts then you’ll be wanting to upgrade straight away, so take advantage of our link:
