While the Nokia N97 and Samsung Omnia HD both pack in S60 5th Edition, there is a world of difference between the two devices, as you’ll find out.

The Nokia N97 is still on the top of everyone’s wish-list for later this year but as the time for its release draws nearer, it’s only natural that people will want to compare it with other handsets around.
The S60 Blog has done a great job of getting the stats on both devices to line up, giving you an at-a-glance fact-fest. It’s clear from the figures, if we didn’t already know, that Nokia has packed some serious power into the N97.
Both use in S60 5th Edition and come with a touchscreen but the N97 has a QWERTY keyboard while the Omnia can only come back with its 8-megapixel camera as a show-piece. Check out the full fact fight over at S60 Blog.
This came as news to us as ours has been working fine straight-fromm-the-box but it seems there is a problem with a number of earpiece connections on the Nokia 5800.
Mobile Review over in Russia took up the challenge to get to the bottom of it, finding out it’s all to do with the way newly built devices have stored. There is a full explanation as well as apology from Nokia.
It’s a great insight into how Nokia is willing to interact with the Nokia community and come up with a solution that works for everybody.
UK Telcos ‘furious’ about Skype plans
While we rather like the idea of having Skype in the upcoming Nokia N97 smartphone, it seems that a number of phone operators have started to get worried about their revenue stream.
In a story we saw over at Mobile Today, it seems apparently that O2 and Orange don’t like the idea of it being included and are even willing to stop stocking Nokia devices if it can’t be resolved. According to the story, it’s all about ‘ownership of the user’ with the telcos not wishing to be seen as merely a dumb pipe carrying what Nokia wants to install on its devices.
With the Nokia N97 still some months away from being available on any operator network it seems there is still plenty of time to resolve this one.
