Have you been tempted to pre-order yourself a Nokia N97 with a certain online retailer yet? Well, if we were you, we'd hang-fire on splashing the cash just yet as we've just been informed by our Nokia contact that the pricing is well off-the-scale, or simply 'outrageous' as they put it.
There is good news, though, as it seems the date may well be 'close' to being right. Read on for the full details of the Nokia N97...
We reported earlier that Expansys had posted up what it believes to be the street date and onsale price of the forthcoming Nokia N97 smartphone. Well, it seems the site is seriously wide of the mark when it comes to pricing, and even has the date wrong.
How do we know? Well, we've been in touch with Nokia only to find out that the price is simply 'outrageous'. Expansys has a price of £689.99 (inc. VAT), which in these credit crunch times simply isn't going to happen. Nokia is staying quiet as to the true price but we're expecting it to be a lot less.
One thing that Expansys has got nearly right is that it will be a June release, but there is no official confirmation as to whether it'll be the 23rd. However, we already knew it would be June, as Nokia made it clear when the N97 would ship as part of its announcements during the recent Mobile World Congress.
So there you go, we still need to wait on an official date but it seems we won't have to spend as much as current claims would have it to get our hands on the new flasghip Nok.
